We already read "Jesus" with Milo before bed... we basically just read through the kids bible so that he learns the stories although for Lent we will be adding saints in there as well! What better than learning about the heroes that have gone before us!!! We will be adding a Hail Mary, Our Father and Glory Be as well!
We also are beginning a new tradition this year with praying for our kids. Obviously we pray for our kids each and every day but for Lent we will be praying for a specific part of their life each day... we came up with our own list and wanted to share it here...
1. Their faith life
2. Their purity of heart, mind, body and soul
3. Our relationship as parents with them
4. Desire to learn their faith
5. Their relationship with each other
6. That they value family (immediate and extended)
7. That they have good role models in their life
8. For the relationship with their godparents (for Blakesley to get some)
9. Their friends (that they find holy friends who make them better people and build them up)
10. Their vocation
11. Their sexuality
12. That they discover their God given talents and use them to give back honor to God
13. For their education
14. For their spouse
15. That they avoid addictions in their life
16. The they can find their identity as a woman/man in Christ
17. Their ability to find joy in their life
18. For their safety
19. Receive the gift of understanding
20. Receive the gift of wisdom
21. Receive the gift of knowledge
22. Receive the gift of courage
23. Receive the gift of right judgment
24. Receive the gift of wonder and awe
25. Receive the gift of reverence
26. Learn how to discern and actually do it!
27. After school activities
28. Not materialistic but appreciate what they have
29. Good influence on others
30. Not afraid to be who God has called them to be
31. Are healthy
32. Have a love of scripture
33. Be able to defend their faith
34. Ability to unplug from the world
35. Find a small group of faith filled people
36. Foster a love of Tradition (saints, rosary, Mary, Sacraments etc)
37. Their kids
38. Their self esteem
39. Their ceremonies
40. Their own quiet time and devotions
May we all pray for our children always... for they are the future of the Church <3
and because what is a post without a picture here is our crazy wild man <3 and my quickly growing belly!!! I cannot believe we are only 3 months away!
